afrofuturism

My thesis investigates Afrofuturism as a lens for cultural reclamation and speculative creativity.
Grounded in critical texts like Sound and Vision (Glenn Ligon) and Afrofuturism 2.0 (Anderson & Jones), I examined how Black artists use creative expression as radical self-determination.

Synthesizing African quilting traditions with modern typographic and textile design, I created a narrative-driven wall tapestry, accompanied by wearable extensions a tote and T-shirt as vehicles for cultural memory and identity.

This project was awarded the Race and Gender Studies Design Award for its contribution to visualizing intersectional narratives through design.
