My senior thesis topic was on the art of Afrofuturism, this first project is based on the article, “The Languages of Afrofuturism” by Adriano Elia. The article is focused on the importance of how people of color used art as their voice against prejudice. Afrofuturism was known to be a huge era with African Americans in which they saw themselves as a higher being. Alienated themselves to space where they as a person were powerful. My role for this project was to express that use of power and created posters where I draw the audience’s attention to the use of color, and distortion of type. To find themselves alienated from their current state of mind to try and understand the visual in front of them.
